Research
My research is in Human-computer interaction and Computer Science Education. Some areas that I have studied include personal information management, information refinding, tools for building interactive systems, digital libraries, use of computers for education, and cultural influence in interface design.
Please note that due to my position of department chair, I am currently not recruiting any new students to work with me.
Teaching
This Fall 2026 I am teaching the honors section of ITSC 2214 Data Structures and Algorithms. Next Spring I will be teaching ITIS 3130 HCI.
Professional Service
I participate on a number of groups and organizations inside and outside of UNCC as part of my commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in academia and professional service.
- Member of the Board of Directors for the Computing Research Association, and was co-chair of the 2026 CRA Summit that just completed this summer.
- Member of the Committee on Women in Science, Engineering and Medicine at the National Academies of Science, Engineering.
- Co-Founder of the Hispanics in Computing group and manager of their listserv and website.
